We are so blind to what God has put in front of us, so distracted by the materialism of this world and by our own shallow existence that we have become more concerned by our own vanity and how we look and our outwardly appearance. Our lives are mostly centred around living a glamourous lifestyle, centred around fame, money and possessions, centred around sex and relationships, centred around reputation.
Our lifestyles today are about keeping up with the joneses, being the toughest, being the best, we've forgotten to see the beauty around us. We've forgotten that we are beautiful with or without make up, inside and out. We've forgotten that fame is when we are idolised by our children, our friends and our family, knowing that whatever we do we will always be stars in their eyes. We've forgotten the riches of life, the simple pleasures that cost nothing but mean the world - a heartwarming hug, a passionate kiss, a deep and meaningful conversation.
But for me - it's when my niece runs to take my hand, or gives me a tight squeeze or looks up at me with the cheeckiest grin on her face. For me it's when I make my sister laugh. Fòr me it's when my mum and I can't stop laughing at something that it actually brings tears to my eyes - these are the things I cherish and keep, these things are the best.
However right now we are living so that others will love us and forgotten to love ourselves. We've neglected our hearts and forgotten what's important. We've forgotten what really matters. We've forgotten the meaning and value of life.
